“Suddenly, all of my ancestors are behind me. “Be still ” they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands”– Linda Hogan
Witnessed “Dev Pooja“, a beautiful ritual of paying respect to the ancestors at a shrine built at the entrance of my maternal village, in a field, a sacrosanct piece of land shared by the whole village community. Invariably most villages will have one. On special occasions the daughters-in-law in the family- newly weds, new moms or just a grateful bunch will visit to worship. They bathe the shrine with milk and water, offer clothing, a sweet and light a lamp so the forefathers rest in peace in the glow of the calming light; purified, fed, warm.
Take care of your ancestors, for they will watch over your future generations.
